A 39-year old man who allegedly pointed a firearm at individuals in Grandmother’s Bay has been arrested and charged.

Gilbert John Eric McLeod, who is from Grandmother’s Bay, is facing various weapons-related charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and pointing a firearm.

On April 15, around 8:45 a.m., Stanley Mission RCMP received a report that a firearm was pointed at individuals sitting in a truck in front of a home in Grandmother’s Bay. Officers from Stanley Mission, La Ronge and the Saskatchewan RCMP La Ronge Crime Reduction Team assisted in the investigation, however, they were not able to immediately locate the suspect.

Shortly after, they located the suspect’s abandoned vehicle in a wooded area south of Grandmother’s Bay and used a drone to search the surrounding area. They found the suspect and a second man trying to flee through deep snow.
