RCMP to investigate after wanted man goes into medical distress following arrest

Apr 21, 2025 | 10:25 AM

Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is looking into a case where a man was hospitalized after being arrested by RCMP in North Battleford on Saturday, April 19.

RCMP say officers located the man, who was wanted on warrants stemming from investigations in March and October 2023, at a home on 107th.

When he refused to come out, officers secured the area and later entered the home with help from RCMP Police Dog Services.

They found the man hiding in the attic. Shortly after he was arrested, police say he experienced a medical emergency.

Officers gave him first aid and called EMS. He was taken to hospital.

Because of his condition, SIRT is now overseeing an investigation into what happened during the arrest. RCMP say they’ve notified SIRT as required by law and are releasing the information as part of their commitment to transparency.

“The Saskatchewan RCMP is disclosing this as part of our ongoing commitment to transparency,” Mounties said in a release issued Monday morning.
