Apr 21, 2025 | 11:46 AM

The Prince Albert Police Service is confirming a 30-year-old woman was found deceased inside a home that was on fire on Sunday.

Her death is not considered suspicious.

At approximately 4p.m., the Prince Albert Police Service, the Prince Albert Fire Department, and Parkland Ambulance responded to the structure fire in the 400 block of 19 Street East.

On arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the second storey of a two storey home. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters, however there was significant damage to the second storey bedroom.

A thick line of yellow police tape surrounds the house. (Nigel Maxwell/ paNOW Staff)

The Prince Albert Police Service will continue to work with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office. An autopsy is scheduled for April 22. Given the nature of this investigation, police advised no further media updates are planned at this time.

Meanwhile the cause of the fire remains unknown. Neighbours told paNOW that prior to calling 9-1-1, they heard two loud bangs coming from the house.

Believing there was someone inside, several neighbours then attempted to bang on the door and even kick down the door, but were not successful.
