Body-cams for RCMP now in Meadow Lake

Apr 24, 2025 | 10:40 AM

Body cameras have come to Meadow Lake.

Police are now officially equipped with the technology as part of the national effort to overhaul the RCMP and improve accountability.

“The use of body-worn cameras shows our commitment to public trust and transparency,” said Meadow Lake Detachment Commander, Staff Sargent Carl Dinsdale in a press release.

“Cameras are another tool that can aid policing by objectively capturing evidence, investigations and interactions with the public.”

According to the release, the cameras will be used during “crisis interactions, crimes in progress, mental health calls, public protests, as well as for investigative purposes” and all officers are fully trained in the new equipment.

The cameras will record both audio and video and police say when it is possible, the public will be informed of the recording.
