Property crime drops 30 per cent in Prince Albert

Apr 25, 2025 | 5:00 PM

The latest statistics from Prince Albert Police show another drop in areas like property crime.

The first three months of the year saw a 30 per cent reduction in total property crime.

January, February and March 2025 ended with 650 reported property crimes, a large reduction from the 936 reports during the same period in 2024.

This year’s number is also below the five-year average of 768 incidents. Police say that 68 of the related investigations led to criminal charges being laid.

Break and enters have decreased also in a similar comparison to the year before.

In 2025, 74 break and enters were reported which led to 13 occurrences of charges being laid.

Most of the break and enters were to residences (36), followed by 20 outbuildings and 13 businesses being targeted. One church/school/hall was broken into and four business outbuildings were similarly targeted.

Vehicle thefts are a different story, however and increased slightly to 105 thefts in the first three months of the year. Police found 84 of the stolen vehicles and laid charges in 12 cases.

The Prince Albert Police Service would like to remind residents of a few auto-theft prevention tips.

Vehicles are often stolen when the car keys are left inside the vehicle. Residents are reminded to avoid leaving any property inside your vehicle and never leave the car running with the keys inside.
