A 40-year-old woman is facing arson charges following a house fire in Prince Albert’s Midtown area recently.

Prince Albert Police arrested the woman after a house was lit on fire on April 24, shortly after noon.

Police say they received a report that the woman had started a house on fire in the 500 Block of 12th Street East. It was the second time in two days the house had been lit on fire.

Shortly afterwards, they found a woman matching the suspect’s description and arrested her on 11th Street East.

There were no injuries as a result and the woman is charged with arson causing damage to property.

Joyce Charles will make her first court appearance on May 8.

The house in question has been referred to by neighbours as a “trap house” and when the landlord was busy boarding up the house after the initial fire, multiple neighbours were observed yelling at him.
