Election Day 2025

Election Day arrives, advance polls suggest high voter turnout

Apr 28, 2025 | 8:49 AM

After nearly five weeks of hearing campaign promises, it’s officially time to make a decision.

Canada’s 45th general election runs today and in the Prince Albert riding, voters will have three names to choose from on the ballot.

Incumbent Randy Hoback (Conservative) is being challenged by Christopher Hadubiak of the Liberal Party and Virginia Kutzan of the New Democratic Party.

The 2025 election has so far seen a lot of advanced and early voter turnout. In Prince Albert 13,250 people have already cast a ballot. Nationally, over 27 per cent of eligible voters have already done so.

This compared to a total of 206,754 votes cast for Saskatchewan, which in itself was a big jump from 2021 when 183,898 votes were cast.

Voters have several ways to make sure they can cast their ballot.

In the first option, people can show a driver’s licence or any other card issued by a Canadian government including the federal, provincial or local government if it has your photo, name and current address.

For the second option, a voter information card and utility bill or student card is enough to show identity.

The third option is to declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you and is assigned to your polling station to vouch for you.

The voucher has to prove their own name and address and can only vouch for one person except in the case of long term care facilities.

Polls are open today from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Voters should also keep in mind that some ridings changed in the last review and will look different than previous elections. That includes Prince Albert.
