A Red Earth Cree Nation man faces charges after a firearm incident over the weekend.

Carrot River RCMP were called about an armed man at Red Earth early Sunday morning.

Police determined a man stopped a vehicle and pointed a gun at the people inside.

The vehicle drove away, and the man shot the gun into the air several times.

He then tried and failed to stop a second vehicle, but he shot at the vehicle and damaged it.

There were no injuries.

Carrot River RCMP, Nipawin RCMP, and the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems searched the area.

Officers saw the man toss the firearm into the ditch and enter a house, where he was arrested without incident.

Thirty-year-old Jeff McKay from Red Earth Cree Nation faces five weapons and other charges and made his first court appearance in Melfort on Monday.
