Town of Kelvington declares fire ban

Another local fire ban is now in effect.

The Town of Kelvington has declared a fire ban that took effect Tuesday at 9 a.m.

“For the duration of the ban, no open fires are permitted,” the statement read. “Self-contained heating devices, pressurized stoves, gas barbecues, propane fire pits or charcoal briquettes used in an approved firebox will only be permitted for cooking and heating purposes.”

The statement also asked residents to be careful while disposing of cigarettes, making sure they are fully extinguished before doing so.

Several local fire crews have been busy extinguishing a variety of grass and brush fires across northeast, north-central, and east-central Saskatchewan due to the dry conditions.
