Prescribed fire Wednesday in Waskeskiu

People in the vicinity of Waskesiu are being advised of a prescribed fire that will be lit on Wednesday, April 30.

Parks Canada issued the alert the same morning, saying the fire will happen in the Waskesiu Community Fuel Break, south of the townsite.

Smoke will be visible in and around the community and an area closure is in place for parts of the Red Deer Trail Red Loop.

The prescribed burn has been done every year since 2006 and reduces the risk of wildfires to the community.
