Predators dominate on the road, finish weekend atop PGLL standings

May 4, 2025 | 3:43 PM

The Prince Albert Predators are headed home with a pair of wins following a successful business trip in Southern Saskatchewan.

The Preds first knocked off the Weyburn Razorbacks 22-8 on Saturday night, before taking down the Queen City Chaos in Regina 17-4.

The triumphs come after the Predators tied the Saskatoon Swat in their season opener 15-15 on April 25.

In Weyburn, P.A. jumped out of the blocks fast, going up 8-3 after the first period. They stayed on the gas in the second by putting up 11 goals in the frame to lead 19-5 entering the third. There, the Razorbacks defence was strong, but still let in a few markers as the Preds walked Weyburn with a 22-8 win.

Talon Sandry and Matthew Cudmore led the way in game one against the Razorbacks, each notching six goals and three assists in the win. Rookie Chase Lehner scored eight points (5G-3A), Braden Shewchuk and Sam Cooper had four (2G-2A), Ryley Prediger had three (1G-2A), and rookie Logan Rieger had two (2A).

Meanwhile, Ryder Hignett and Samuel Borschowa finished atop the scoresheet for Weyburn, each scoring four points. Jack Missal had three points, Wyatt Mickler and Kaden Chrest both had two, and Hunter Willoughby and rookie Brody Morrice each had one.

Rookie netminder Oliver Volek got the win for Prince Albert.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Game two was much of the same story for Prince Albert in the sense that they dominated their opponent.

Like the day before, the Predators led big after the first by hanging nine goals on the Chaos without giving one up. After Sandry and Cooper made it 11-0 at the start of the second, Austin Enright got Queen City on the board with his lone point of the game.

The two sides traded two goals and headed into the third with P.A. up 14-3.

The Chaos added another in the final frame while the Preds added three of their own to end the beating at 17-4.

Sandry scored a whopping 12 points (4G-8A) in the contest, followed by Cooper with eight (3G-5A), Cudmore and Prediger with five (3G-2A, 2G-3A), Lehner with four (2G-2A), Rieger and Shewchuk with three (2G-1A, 1G-2A), and Theran Lysitza and Luke Eggerman with one (1A).

Along with Enright, Caleb Singer-Scherle found the scoresheet for Queen City with a goal and two assists, while Kaiden Lindsay and Colter Goodwill Jr. also scored in the loss. Dreyvin Isnana, Ethan Williams, Bennett Singer-Scherle, and Eric Okerstrom each had one assist.

Volek picked up his second win of the campaign with 15 saves as Prince Albert improves to 2-0-1 (W-L-T) on the year. Opposite him was Isnana who managed 45 saves in the loss, as Queen City drops to 0-3-0 to start the season.
