A vehicle crash and a grass fire were the focus of Melfort fire crews over the past few days.

The department was called out to a vehicle in distress east of Pathlow early Wednesday morning.

A truck was found sitting on its side in the ditch when crews arrived.

The lone occupant was able to kick the windshield out and exit the vehicle.

Fire crews helped load the patient into the ambulance, and there’s no word on the extent of their injuries.

The department responded to a grass fire south of Melfort Monday afternoon.

A small patch of grass had already burned by the time fire crews arrived, but a passerby was able to stop it from spreading.

The Melfort Fire Department thanked the individual for helping to prevent the fire from spreading, especially with the recent windy, dry weather.
