Charges have been laid after a motorcycle crash near Melfort late last month.

The two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle happened April 27 on Highway 3 west of Melfort.

RCMP say by the time first responders arrived at the scene, the other vehicle involved in the crash was no longer at the scene.

A 57-year-old woman riding the motorcycle was treated for serious injuries at Melfort Hospital.

The RCMP investigation determined a white pickup truck was the other vehicle involved in the collision, and they identified the driver who initially stopped at the scene but didn’t stick around.

He later turned himself in to police after an arrest warrant was issued for him.

34-year-old Evan Powers of Melfort has been charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm and driving while suspended.

He will be in court May 20.
