Man, woman charged after break-in and assault in Nipawin

A break-and-enter and assault in Nipawin sent two females to hospital and has led to two arrests.

Nipawin RCMP were called about a break-and-enter at a home on 10th Ave. W. in Nipawin at around 3:30 Thursday morning.

The investigation determined that a man and a woman broke into the home and assaulted two females.

One was taken to Nipawin Hospital by EMS and later transferred to a Saskatoon hospital by STARS with injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening. The other female was taken to Nipawin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers found and arrested a man and woman in Nipawin later on Thursday in connection to the incident.

36-year-old Scott McKay from Red Earth Cree Nation is charged with:

  • one count, break and enter, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, mischief under $5000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;
  • one count, aggravated assault, Section 268, Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
  • one count, uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • four counts, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, witness intimidation, Section 423(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, intimidation of a justice system participant, Section 423.1(b), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code.

33-year-old Noreen Head from Nipawin, SK is charged with:

  • one count, break and enter, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, mischief under $5000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code;
  • one count, aggravated assault, Section 268, Criminal Code;
  • one count, intimidation of a justice system participant, Section 423.1(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, witness intimidation, Section 423(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • two counts, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

Both are due in court in Nipawin on Wednesday.
