Golfing season off to a busy start at Eagle Point

May 9, 2025 | 12:00 PM

Eagle Point Resort owner Lolita Poirier is expecting a busier-than-usual summer at her nine-hole golf course.

“I think we are pretty on par for how many memberships have been sold,” she remarked.

“I always see people I don’t know on the tee-sheet, so new people are trying it out. I think it is fairly busy in town right now with different kinds of construction going on, so we’re certainly seeing some of those workers coming in for golfing after their shift.”

Men’s golf will be held on Tuesday, and ladies on Wednesday with tee-off set for 5:30 p.m. Doubles will be held on Thursday starting next week, and seniors play Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. The senior sessions will be followed by a light lunch.

The golf course opened on May 3 (Saturday), and more than 100 golfers arrived that day. Sunday was also fairly busy with about 80 golfers.

“We had our first men’s night on Tuesday and there were 63 men, so a pretty full field,” Poirier explained. “They usually have 45 to 50 guys, so 63 is a great first night.”

The greens wintered well and are currently in spring condition. The grass is very dry, however, and staff have been watering the greens on a daily basis. Golfers are asked to be careful and to properly dispose of any cigarette butts while on the course.

This season, the kitchen will be open with a limited menu available in the clubhouse. Further details will be announced via the Eagle Point Facebook page when that offering is ready to go.

There will be some tournaments throughout the season, including ones for men and women later in the year.

“We may be having something here just in-house before the end of the month for a yearly kick-off and the big one in June is the Ice Wolves on the 21st,” Poirier remarked.

There are five weddings planned for 2025, as well as some meetings. If anyone is interested in booking an event at the golf course, they should contact Poirier as soon as possible.
