A 21-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, both from the La Ronge area, are facing numerous charges following an attempted traffic stop that led to a police chase.

On Saturday, May 10 around 8 p.m., La Ronge RCMP were on patrol when officers noted a vehicle driving on Bells Point Road that resembled a vehicle reported as stolen earlier in the evening.

When they attempted to stop it, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, proceeded through a stop sign without stopping and then rolled.

The two occupants were arrested and treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers seized a sawed-off firearm, a butt stock of a firearm, ammunition, a machete, about 30 grams of cocaine and drug trafficking paraphernalia from the vehicle. Police also determined one of the occupants was subject to a court-ordered condition that he be in an approved residence 24 hours a day.

Each of the suspects face several drugs, weapons and dangerous driving related charges and were expected to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday.
