Severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of Northeast
Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a storm system headed for the Nipawin area that could bring with it strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.
At 5:38 p.m., the weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the R.M. of Torch River including Choiceland and White Fox. Also included were the R.M. of Hudson Bay including Shoal Lake and Red Earth Reserves.
It said the storm could potentially produce nickel to ping pong ball size hail capable of damaging roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees.
‘Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Large hail may cause significant damage and injury’ the official warning said.
