City approves bid to create detailed plan for West Hill growth

An engineering contractor has been given the job of coming up with a detailed plan for development of land in the southwest corner of Prince Albert.

City council approved a bid of $329,000 from AECOM as a precursor to developing the land west of 10 Avenue between 28 Street and Marquis Road.

“It’s really important for all the development we see on the West Hill,” said Director of Public Works, Jeff da Silva to council during their regular meeting on Monday.

AECOM will develop details such as road placement, elevation and sizing of city utilities.

The screen shot shows the area that the detailed plan will focus on.

Some building has already started in that area, specifically a childcare/office centre to be owned by the Métis Nation—Saskatchewan.

They have also been in discussions with council to develop small unit housing options that would be for sale.

Council approved re-zoning for the 35 lot subdivision at the end of December.

Staff issued a request for proposals for the plan and received three bids.

A more general master plan was created in 2018, but a much more detailed version is now needed in order for more building to proceed.
