Registration filling quickly for PA Ladies Northern golf tournament

May 13, 2025 | 2:56 PM

We’re officially less than a month away from the start of the PA Ladies Northern golf tournament, which is set for the calendar for June 7 and 8. The tournament is quickly filling up as well with a cap on golfers around 60.

Andrea Ring is part of the organizing committee, the tournament has been going on at Cooke Municipal Golf Course for 76 years.

“It’s a tournament that’s been going on since 1927. It went on for 29 years, and then there’s a bit of a break, and started back up in 1978. So it’s been going 47 straight years here. It’s a stroke play tournament, we get players from all over the province. In fact, our winner last year was from Saskatoon and our senior winner was from Regina. So it’s a popular tournament. We normally get 60 to 65 players, so it’s lots of fun.”

As for registrations, if you’re looking to get into the tournament, you’ll need to act fast. With a little less than a month to go before the tournament starts, there already is not much room left.

“You can go on the Cooke website to enter, or you can call Darcy’s Pro shop and they can certainly enter you. I’ve also sent out emails to all our girls that have come in the past and whatnot, so we’re getting pretty full. We’re getting pretty close to our 65, so if anybody wants in, they have to get going.”

The tournament doesn’t take much for sponsorship, but there is opportunity to help out if you would like to provide something for the two-day tournament.

“We have a little bit of sponsorship. We pretty much run just on our fees and whatnot. So Harold, Family Foods always helps us out with some fruit, Anderson Pumphouse helps us out with some water, and the rest we kind of take care of ourselves.”

Leon’s Furniture is also a major sponsor of the tournament.
