New attractions and ways to enjoy the outdoors can be found at parks across Saskatchewan this summer.

Campgrounds and provincial parks around the province are gearing up to welcome back campers this weekend as the 2025 camping season officially kicks off on Friday, May 16.

“We are excited to welcome visitors for another incredible season in our beautiful provincial parks,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said. “Whether you want adventure, relaxation or time with family and friends, our parks create lasting memories while highlighting the beauty of Saskatchewan’s natural environment.”

Along with the opening of camping season, the province announced new ways to ‘Stay and Play’ with upgrades at select parks and campgrounds.

Opening soon in Meadow Lake are rentable tipis, along with tipi-style cabins in Buffalo Pound. Also in Buffalo Pound is the new Trailhead Cafe, which opens Thursday, May 15 at the Visitors Centre.

Meanwhile, already open at Blackstrap are additional glamping domes with new domes opening soon at Echo Valley, and at Lake Diefenbaker, additional marina slips have been added at the Elbow Harbour Recreation Site.

Activities like fishing also open for the season on Thursday in the Central Zone, which includes everything north of Highway 55 and ends as far north as the 57th parallel. Fishing in Prince Albert National Park will open a couple days later on Saturday, May 17.

All events at parks in Saskatchewan are free with a valid entry permit.

The province is also reminding campers that fire bans are in place and are changing every day. To check the current fire bans and restrictions, or for more information about camping this season, visit SaskParks.com.
