RCMP probing connection between Highway 4 rollover and shots fired near First Nations

RCMP are asking the public to help locate a white pickup truck that may be connected to a serious crash and a possible firearm discharge Thursday morning on Highway 4 near Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation and Red Pheasant Cree Nation.

The incidents happened around 9 a.m. on May 15. A vehicle rolled over, sending four people to hospital — two with serious injuries and two with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Around the same time, police received a separate report of a firearm being discharged in the area. Investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are related.

A Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the rollover investigation.

Police say anyone who sees the white pickup truck should not approach it, but instead call 310-RCMP or report anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

RCMP say they will provide updates as they become available and will notify the public if an imminent risk to safety is identified.
