
Criminal investigation underway following ATCO substation shooting in Lloydminster
An RCMP investigation has found that an oil tank at an ATCO substation was intentionally shot at, resulting in roughly $1.1 million in damages and environmental clean-up after 20,000 litres of oil spilled out.
The police were initially alerted to a power outage report in the early hours on Monday. The incident at the substation, located near 12th Street, and 75 Avenue, is now under criminal investigation and police said although there had been several break and enters during the outage, they don’t believe they are connected at the moment.

The incident is not connected to the oil release at the Cenovus substation, which is also in Lloydminster.
