Marquis Road widening to start soon

May 20, 2025 | 2:20 PM

A narrow section of Marquis Road on the south side of Prince Albert is scheduled to be widened this summer.

The section of the street between Central Avenue and 4th Avenue East will get an upgrade to an ‘urban cross-section’, which will include curb and gutter and a centre concrete median.

A higher capacity storm main will be put in on the north side of the street and will go from Central Avenue to the east portion of South Industrial Drive.

Work will start with the installation of the storm main at the intersection of Marquis Road and South Industrial Driver and move westward as it progresses.

The city plans to schedule the work so that no more than one intersection along the road is closed at a time

Construction is scheduled to start right away, and markers have already been placed outlining the first portion of construction. Traffic will need to detour while the work progresses, meaning drivers should expect to use South Industrial Drive and/or 38th Street East.

The hope is to have the road re-open by mid-August.
