Raiders trade Fabrizi to Lethbridge
With six soon-to-be 20-year-olds still on the roster going into the 2025-26 season, the Prince Albert Raiders had some moves to make ahead of the season. As a result, the Raiders have traded Matteo Fabrizi to the Lethbridge Hurricanes along with a seventh round pick in next year’s draft in exchange for a fourth round pick in 2028.
Standing at 6-5, 236 pounds, Fabrizi instantly added some size to the Raiders back end when they acquired him in late December ahead of the trade deadline, standing as the biggest man in the WHL last year. He was originally acquired in a trade in exchange for then 18-year-old defenceman Doogan Pederson, 2009-born prospect Miller Robson, and a third round pick in 2025.
Fabrizi added some stability to the Raiders blue line, immediately adding an intimidation factor to the team along with a long reach that was made especially effective on the Raiders penalty kill. He made his debut in the Raiders 6-3 road win over the Saskatoon Blades on New Years Day.
As a Raider, Fabrizi played 29 games in the regular season, scoring once and adding three assists. He also played 11 games in the playoffs. The big man also dropped the gloves a few times over the course of the season with the Raiders, most notably against teammate Rilen Kovacevic, who was a member of the Moose Jaw Warriors at the time.
