Search underway for suspects in shooting incident on Red Earth Cree Nation

Carrot River RCMP are looking for a pair of suspects after a man was shot over the weekend.

They were called to a home on Red Earth Cree Nation late Saturday afternoon, and found an injured man, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation determined two suspects entered the home and a gun went off, injuring the victim.

The suspects then fled the scene.

Carrot River RCMP, the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services Critical Incident Response Team, and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System searched the area, and a knife and firearm were found.

The suspects were not located.

Thirty-eight-year-old Gregory Whitehead and 40-year-old Harvey Whitehead from Red Earth Cree Nation are each charged with:

– one count, discharge firearm with intent, Section 244(b), Criminal Code;

– one count, aggravated assault, Section 268(2), Criminal Code;

– one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;

– one count, possession of a firearm while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;

– one count, possession of a prohibited firearm, Section 92(2), Criminal Code;

– one count, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, Section 95, Criminal Code;

– one count, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, Section 85(1)(a), Criminal Code; and

– one count, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, Section 108(1), Criminal Code.

Gregory is charged with one count of fail to comply with undertaking, while Harvey is charged with an additional count of possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Gregory Whitehead is described as approximately 5-7 and 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoo sleeves on both arms.

Warrants have been issued for their arrests, and RCMP want the public to report any sighting of them by calling 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Members of the public are cautioned not to approach the duo.
