An armed robbery has ended in charges against a man and a woman from Battleford and North Battleford.

It happened on May 20, around 2 p.m. on Moosomin First Nation.

Battlefords RCMP said individuals entered a home armed with a firearm and then bear-sprayed the victim and robbed them. The individuals fled in a truck, while the victim was treated at the scene by EMS.

Officers tried to locate the suspects but were unable to immediately find them. Later that evening, the Battlefords RCMP and RCMP Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) Battlefords Crime Reduction Team-Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) located the suspect truck at a residence on Saulteaux First Nation. Police approached with lights and sirens activated on their vehicles, however, the occupants fled into a home.

The RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team attended the scene to help.

A man and a woman exited the home and were taken into custody. The woman was later released without charges. About four and a half hours later, a second woman came out of the home. Police located and seized a semi-automatic firearm and ammunition from the vehicle parked at the home.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Richard Wright of Battleford and 23-year-old Jenna Haraburda of North Battleford both face charges of robbery and assault, among other charges.

Both appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Thursday.
