Kinsmen Arena was turned into a slaughterhouse on Saturday night.

The Prince Albert Predators welcomed the Weyburn Razorbacks to town and showed why they’re atop the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League (PGLL) standings, steamrolling the visitors 33-5.

The win is the sixth in a row for P.A. who remain undefeated following Week 5 with a 6-0-1 (W-L-T) record.

The Preds managed 26 goals in the first two periods alone, compared to the Razorbacks’ four, before adding another seven in the third and final frame against Weyburn’s single tally.

P.A. was led by Brayden Rieger and Chase Lehner, who each scored double digits. Rieger potted 12 points (9G-3A) and the rookie Lehner had 11 (7G-4A). Behind them with eight points each was Matthew Cudmore (5G-3A) and Sam Cooper (4G-4A), followed by Talon Sandry with seven (4G-3A), Braden Shewchuk with five (1G-4A), and Ryley Prediger with four assists. Also finding the scoresheet in the contest was Cole Barmby (1G-2A), Logan Rieger (1G-1A), Mason Crain (2A), Tucker Prodaehl (1G), Tobey Oshanek (1A), and Jake Boettcher (1A).

For the visitors, rookie Nash Hignett had a team high three points with a goal and two assists, while Ella Schenher, Chase Dennis, and Ryder Hignett also found the back of the net for Weyburn as Matthew Charlton collected an assist.

Affiliated goaltender Liam Hamilton got the nod for Prince Albert and showed out, making 17 saves to pick up his first career win in his first ever start.

On the other end, Weyburn’s Ty Petersen turned aside a whopping 50 saves on 82 shots as the Razorbacks fall to 1-4-0 on the year.

Prince Albert returns to action on June 7 when they host the Moose Jaw Mustangs at Kinsmen Arena.
