Artists wanted to help celebrate P.A.’s community spirit

May 28, 2025 | 8:30 AM

The city known as Saskatchewan’s Playground and the Heartbeat of the North is looking for visual artists and graphic designers around the province to help Prince Albert celebrate its community spirit.

The initiative will be led by the city’s communications, culture plan, and tourism teams, and is done so in an effort to bring awareness to the city’s “identity as both a hub for the arts and a leader in green space.”

“We’re looking for designs that reflect the pride, beauty, and creativity that define Prince Albert,” says Tia Furstenberg, arts and culture coordinator, in a press release.

“Whether inspired by our natural landscapes or vibrant arts scene, this contest is a great opportunity for artists to help shape how we share our story.”

Two winners for City of Parks and one for City of Art respectively will each receive a $500 honorarium and will have their art featured on local swag such as decals and magnets.

Applicants must be from Saskatchewan and those who live in Prince Albert or belong to Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC), 2SLGBTQIA+, deaf persons, persons with disabilities, and youth are “especially encouraged” to submit their work.

To submit, the requirements are as follows: the piece must be an original concept and must be submitted digitally in the JPEG format, one to 10 colours must be used and say City of Parks or City of Arts.

The deadline is June 16 at 5 p.m. and the winning artists will be contacted June 20

To submit, contact Furstenberg at tfurstenberg@citypa.com or 306-953-4825.
