Another fire in Melfort early Wednesday morning makes it an even 30 so far this month.

The Melfort Fire Department (MFD) was called to a report a fire on Saskatchewan Drive.

A burning post at the rear of a building was discovered, and Fire Chief Leonard Whitney was able to use an extinguisher to knock down the fire.

An engine was also used to put out any hot spots.

“This is another example of the extremely dry conditions that continue across the entire province and how a tiny spark, flame, [and] heat source can ignite very, very quickly,” the MFD posted on their social media page.

The call was the 59th of the year for the Melfort Fire Department.
