Ty Meunier will follow in the footsteps of some of his Prince Albert Raiders teammates following his WHL eligibility.

Meunier is the latest Raider to announce their commitment to a post-secondary program, joining captain Justice Christensen and alternate captain Aiden Oiring as commits to the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) in NCAA Division I.

“I chose Omaha because I know they are a great program who develops players to move on to pro,” Meunier said.

“The coaching staff has been phenomenal with me, and I believe they have an awesome culture there. I’m super excited that current teammates Aiden and Justice are also committed. I’m really looking forward to the facilities and high end training, and I believe it will be a good fit.”

The St. Albert, Alta. product just wrapped up a solid rookie campaign for the Green and Gold, netting 29 points (14G-15A) while playing in all 68 regular season contests. He also had one goal in 11 playoff games.

UNO plays in one of the most competitive leagues in college hockey in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), which features numerous former National Champions, including Minnesota Duluth, Denver, North Dakota, and the most recent winner, Western Michigan.

Last season, Nebraska-Omaha finished fourth in the NCHC with a 14-9-1 (W-L-T) record, adding to a total record of 18-17-1. UNO saw their season end in the first round of the conference playoffs, coming at the hands of North Dakota, who eliminated the Mavericks 2-0 in the best-of-three series.
