SaskTel removing fees for evacuees
SaskTel is removing overage fees for customers affected by the wildfires in Northern Saskatchewan.
Jeremy Harrison, the minister responsible for SaskTel, said the measure is to help families remain connected.
“We are also ensuring that SaskTel customers forced to leave their homes due to the wildfires will not be charged for television, internet and home phone services,” Harrison said in a media release.
The changes are effective May 31. Until June 16, the Crown corporation will waive all data overage charges for SaskTel customers living in Birch Portage First Nation, Brabant Lake, Canoe Lake, Creighton, Denare Beach, Deschambault Lake, East Trout Lake, Jan Lake, Little Bear Lake, Lower Fishing Lake, Morin Lake #217, Pelican Narrows, Piprell Lake, Sandy Bay, Southend, Sturgeon Weir, Weyakwin and Whelan Bay. Customers who were evacuated will have a credit for their SaskTel Internet, maxTV Stream and home phone services.
