Fire claims structures in Denare Beach, evacuation order remains in place

Properties have been lost, and the evacuation order remains in effect in the Village of Denare Beach.

The village issued an update on the latest from the WOLF fire that entered the community yesterday.

“Due to the aggressiveness of the fire, we can confirm structure loss,” the village said. The area of “Ninth Avenue South to the reserve has been devastated by the fire.”

The fire hall, admin building, and Denareplex remain standing, and the village said there is no further confirmation on any residential or infrastructure losses at this time.

“We understand not receiving further information is frustrating, but please understand we feel as shocked, helpless as you all right now and are trying to navigate the situation as best we can remotely.”

The village said the fire department members are accounted for and are safe in Creighton, and they thanked the department and others that “came to help in our time of need.”

“They have our utmost respect, admiration and have done above and beyond what was expected to them,” said the village in its social media post.

They recommend residents start opening claims on their house or business insurance, saying that most policies include mandatory evacuation funding that will help cover expenses.

Cellular, Internet, and phone lines are offline for Denare Beach and Creighton, which reduces contact with representatives still on the ground in the area.

The entire community, including emergency personnel and firefighters, was evacuated late yesterday afternoon due to the fast-moving Wolf fire and extreme wind.
