Man charged with sexual assault following break-in

A 31-year-old man has been handed a list of charges following a break-in on Tuesday in the Crescent Acres neighbourhood.
Police were called to a home in the 2000 block of 15th Avenue East for a man who broke in, assaulted a resident, and stole their vehicle.
Officers learned that the man allegedly entered the residence and was asked to leave. He then began to assault and then sexually assault a female victim, before stealing her purse and fleeing in her vehicle.
Patrolling officers later found the stolen car unoccupied in the 1300 block of Gilmore Crescent. A canine was used and successfully tracked the suspect to the 1300 block of Longworth Place, where he was arrested.
