A 24-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been charged after a road rage incident turned violent earlier this week.

The incident happened at around 8:40 a.m. Monday when Prince Albert Police received a report of an impaired driver in the 500 block of 10th Street NW in Nordale.

Further updates to police reported that there was an altercation where a man was allegedly assaulting a woman, and a vehicle was damaged. When officers arrived, they arrested the man, who surrendered to police, while the woman was transported to hospital for treatment.

Through further investigation, police were able to obtain video footage of the incident where officers found that the 33-year-old woman was travelling on the nearby highway when it appeared to be taunting and preventing the vehicle behind it from passing. As the vehicle behind attempted to pass, the woman in front intentionally made contact with the other vehicle.

At this time, both vehicles pulled into a business at the 500 block of 10th Street NW where the woman from the first vehicle and 24-year-old man from the second vehicle exit their vehicles. The man then damaged the windshield of the woman’s vehicle, resulting in a physical confrontation between them. The woman then walked to the man’s vehicle and allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old woman occupant.

As a result, the man has been charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.

Meanwhile, a day later on June 3, the woman turned herself into police has been charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
