Saskatchewan has lowest unemployment rate of any province: Statistics Canada
Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate is the lowest of any Canadian province.
According to data released by Statistics Canada on Friday, Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate sat at 4.2 per cent in May. That’s the lowest among all provinces, and significantly lower than the national unemployment rate of 7 per cent.
Newfoundland and Labrador had the highest unemployment rate at 9.6 per cent.
The national unemployment rate ticked up by 0.1 per cent last month, Statistics Canada noted, putting it at its highest level since September of 2016, excluding the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.
