Man arrested after trying to disarm police officer

A 25-year-old has been charged with attempting to disarm a police officer after resisting arrest in relation to a mischief investigation.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, police attended to the 3200 block of Sixth Avenue East for a mischief in progress while a man was stabbing vehicle tires with a screwdriver.
Police responded to a man matching the suspect’s description. When attempting to arrest the man, he resisted arrest and assaulted the police officer. The man tried to grab the officer’s gun from its holster. He was arrested shortly after.
The man was charged with possession of a weapon, attempting to disarm a police officer, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
