Nipawin Region Health Foundation kicks off ‘Pledge Drive War’

The Nipawin Region Health Foundation has launched this year’s Pledge Drive War.

The fundraiser is in conjunction with the annual Panhandler Charity Golf Classic, which is coming up in August.

“If you raise over $200 you can golf [in the Panhandler Charity Golf Classic] for free,” explained Foundation Executive Director Danielle Armstrong. “Since we have very limited spots [for golf], we opened up that you can join us for supper [for two] if you raise over $150.”

Armstrong said people have already requested pledge forms. Last year, $16,000 was raised through the Pledge Drive War.

“We’re hoping to hit our $20,000 goal,” Armstrong told northeastNOW.

The total amount raised will be announced at the Panhandler on Aug. 22, along with the winners of the Pledge Drive War prizes.

Armstrong said the Panhandler and Pledge Drive War are raising funds to improve the palliative and quiet rooms in local health facilities.

“We’ll be looking at getting a Murphy bed, more comfortable seating, or a comfortable space for people in their end-of-life, so we’re calling it the ‘End-of-Life Campaign,'” said Armstrong.

You can get your pledge drive form and donors will receive a tax receipt for donations over $20.

“You can either be the one to give or the one to collect – but in the end, we all win.”
