The 2025 SJHL Draft was held on Tuesday afternoon, as eight rounds of Saskatchewan players were selected by the 12-member teams.

In total, 92 players were drafted, 24 of them being 2010-born players, with the other 68 being born in 2009.

For the Melfort Mustangs, they selected nine players of the future, which included two 2010-born selections and seven 2009-born selections.

Jack Frisky and Prince Albert native and Mintos player, Jakob Schmidt, were their 2010-born players, selected with the 12th overall pick (first round) and the 16th pick (second round).

Their 2009-born first-round selections then included Deklin Larmer (10th overall) and Oliver Husnik (12th overall), who they acquired from the Weyburn Red Wings in exchange for the 3rd overall pick, which turned into Van Huebner.

The rest of their selections were as follows: Kade Kahovec 13th overall (second round), Jack Robinson 27th overall (third round), Casey Mitschke 48th overall (fourth round), Jacob Appleby 60th overall (fifth round), and Brady Davidson 72nd overall (sixth round).

As for the Nipawin Hawks, they selected eight players in this year’s draft, three 2010-born skaters and five born in 2009.

Their 2010 portion included Dawson Baht second overall (first round), Denys Lupandin sixth overall (first round), and Ethan Janzen 14th overall (second round). Janzen is reportedly the cousin of current Hawks forward Jack Janzen. Ethan is currently a member of the Tisdale Trojans and is from Porcupine Plain.

The Hawks also passed on their 59th overall selection (fifth round) and traded away their 62nd overall pick (sixth round) to the Flin Flon Bombers.

And finally, the Humboldt Broncos picked just five players in the 2025 draft, a lone 2010-born player and four skaters born in 2009.

Their lone 2010-born selection was Ty Nochowny 18th overall (second round).

Their 2009 portion then included Fulda native and current Tisdale Trojan Preston Hoppe, 15th overall (second round), who they acquired from the Estevan Bruins in exchange for the 18th overall (second round) and 30th overall (third round) picks.

That was followed up by Cruz Harrison 22nd overall (second round), Kayson Anderson 42nd overall (fourth round), and Aiden Harman 54th overall (fifth round), before passing on their final selection, 66th overall (sixth round).

Meanwhile, there was also plenty of local talent drafted to other teams.
