Ontario-raised Amanda Flasch named new city manager for Meadow Lake

After growing up in Mississauga and building her early career in Ontario, Amanda Flasch has spent nearly 20 years calling the Prairies home, and she says she “wouldn’t change it for the world.”

“It’s been a great transition and I’ve loved living in the Prairies,” she said.

Now, the seasoned municipal administrator will take over as Meadow Lake’s city manager on July 7, following council’s formal approval on Monday. She will replace interim manager Neil Marsh, who stepped in after Diana Burton’s departure.

“I have over 10 years of municipal government experience,” Flasch noted. “I have been employed as the recreation director, community and economic development officer, assistant administrator and a chief administrative officer [CAO] across two different municipalities in Saskatchewan.”

Flasch most recently served as CAO in Maidstone and first learned about the Meadow Lake opportunity through a colleague.

“After exploring it a little bit and understanding more about Meadow Lake, I decided to submit an application for it, and the entire interview process was amazing,” she said.

“I’m very excited for the next step forward and to be joining the team up there.”

Mayor Merlin Seymour said Flasch’s leadership experience made her stand out.

“Council carried out a comprehensive recruitment process, and Ms. Flasch’s extensive experience and proven track record in municipal leadership clearly set her apart,” he said in a statement.

“We are confident we have found the right leader for our administration and look forward to working together to move Meadow Lake forward.”

Flasch said she’s excited to build on the momentum of the upcoming Co-op Centre and continue strengthening city services for residents. Meadow Lake is also preparing to host the Saskatchewan Winter Games in 2026 — an event she knows well.

“I have actually coached and managed three of them over the years since I moved up to Saskatchewan, and they’re always a great experience, and it supports the use of our community so well,” she noted.

She’s also eager to support infrastructure work across the city, including road upgrades and improvements to the water system.

Flasch noted Meadow Lake has transitioned to soft water in recent years and said one of her priorities will be making sure “staff are trained up properly for our portion of the distribution network.”

Beyond that, she plans to work closely with Regan Beck, the city’s parks and recreation manager, to enhance programming and facility use.

“I’m excited to be working alongside him to think constructively on how to improve the use of their facilities in our community.”

As a new face in the city, Flasch said she plans to lead with openness and consistency.

“I enjoy listening to the concerns from businesses, residents, community groups, etcetera,” she said. “It’s always nice to hear from everyone to see what’s missing or what can be improved upon or what we’re actually doing well.”

“I like to treat everyone the same way within our bylaws and policies in place.”
