Mustangs’ Keup tendered by Rochester Jr. Americans

Jun 11, 2025 | 12:09 PM

Melfort Mustangs defenceman Logan Keup won’t be returning to the team next season.

Keup, a native of Bismarck, North Dakota, will now be playing back in the United States, as he has been tendered by the Rochester Jr. Americans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The Jr. Americans play in Fairport, New York.

The now 19-year-old defenceman spent just one year in Melfort, suiting up for a combined 43 games of regular season, playoff, and Centennial Cup action.

In his rookie campaign, Keup recorded three goals and seven assists for 10 points.

A 6-2, 181-pound skater, Logan was able to follow in the footsteps of his father, Ben, an alumnus of the 1995-96 Stangs team.

Both played just one season with the Blue and Green, but both were memorable, as in either case, the Mustangs won the SJHL Championship and grabbed a Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) silver medal at the National Tournament.

Logan is the second Mustangs player this offseason to depart from Melfort prior to their 20-year-old season, as goaltender Kristian Coombs is beginning his post-secondary career a year early, having committed to the NCAA Division I University of New Hampshire Wildcats.

The Stangs are also losing eight of their veteran players who have aged out, in Zac Somers, Ty Thornton, Nic Andrusiak, Logan Belton, Reilley Kotai, Nolan Roberts, Zach Turner, and Ashton Paul.
