RCMP link Highway 4 crash and shooting; woman charged, man wanted

RCMP say a vehicle rollover and firearms discharge on Highway 4 near North Battleford last month are now believed to be linked.

Two people have been charged in connection with the May 15 incidents, which prompted an emergency response on the highway.

Mounties arrested a woman the next day on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation. 38-year-old Polly Starchief faces 18 charges, including multiple counts of assault with a weapon and discharging a firearm with intent. She also faces charges related to dangerous driving, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and violating court orders.

Starchief appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 20.

RCMP have also issued a warrant for the arrest of a second suspect, 39-year-old Frazer Stone of Saskatoon. He is charged with assault causing bodily harm, four counts of discharging a firearm with intent, and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence, among other offences.

Police describe Stone as 5-11 and 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has letter tattoos on his left ankle, an unknown tattoo on his right elbow and a scar on his left arm.

Anyone who sees Stone is urged not to approach him and to call 310-RCMP or submit a tip anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

As for now, the investigation remains ongoing.
