Jun 13, 2025 | 12:12 PM

The first-ever Saskatchewan Rhubarb Festival is ready to roll in just over a week in Paynton.

The Kick Off ceremony at 11:00 am will host MLA James Thorstenstein, Reeve Kevin Garrett, and Mayor David Pelletier as guests of honour.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the winners of the first-ever Rhubarb Baking Competition in Saskatchewan will be announced.

Guests will be able to sample the baking at the Rhubarb Tea.

The committee is exceptionally pleased with the response of vendors, sponsors, and volunteers, and donations to the Silent Auction. With Golf Demonstrations, a kids zone featuring Face Painting, Crafts, a Bouncy Castle, Wagon Rides, and a Tractor Show.

The Festival, Tea, and Vendors run from 11 am to 4 pm.

The cash-only Beer & Wine gardens will run from 11 am to 11 pm. Do come try the signature drink, which is a tasty non-alcoholic Rhubarb-Haskap slushy made by the Bee and Thistle Winery..

The Committee is thrilled to announce that Eldon Atcheynum and the Table Mountain Boys will come and jam in the afternoon at the Wine & Beer Gardens. They are known to engage local talents to join in and jam with them! Their amazing hospitality and Country Music will add so much to the festival.

This promises to be a great day! And, yes, there is still time to get your entries in for the Baking Competition until Monday, June 16. If you have a Tractor for the Tractor Show or want to sign up as a Vendor or a Food Service, please email: BarbFest25@hotmail.com.

The Committee and the Community of Paynton are looking forward to welcoming you on June 21. This volunteer committee will use all proceeds for local initiatives in the town of Paynton.
