Inaugural Kars 4 K9’s Car Show in Melfort held to kick off Father’s Day weekend

The North East SPCA was pleased with the Kars 4 K9’s event in Melfort on Friday.

The car show saw over 50 entries, and according to spokesperson Bill Wood, the event was well attended despite scattered showers.

“I think with better weather we could have had more people, but 500 people is very good for a weather-dependent project like this,” Wood told northeastNOW.

The Father’s Day weekend car show has traditionally been organized by the Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce, who declined to do so this year. The show is usually held downtown, and this year it was moved to the Exhibition Grounds.

The show also included a bouncy castle for the kids, food and gift vendors, a refreshment garden, a silent auction, and a smoke show afterward at the grandstand.

“We learned a lot this year – next year, we’re going to have a better show, probably going to be once again at the Exhibition Grounds,” said Wood. “[This year’s show] was good, it was a fun event, a lot of people were there, that’s for sure.”

Wood thanked this year’s sponsors, including Diamond Dodge, Boston Pizza, Canadian Tire, Spa Fit by Linda, Melfort Liquor Loft, Spiffy Car Wash, Inspired Vapor, and Prairie North Co-op, along with Cheyenne GM for supplying the trophies, and Northeast Autosports for hosting the smoke show after the event.

MOPAR: Calvin Riener, Melfort – Dodge Charger
