A man wanted on a warrant in Melfort now faces additional charges.

RCMP officers were conducting what they called “proactive patrols” in the city on Saturday and spotted a man they knew to be on a warrant outside a home on Stovel Ave.

The man was arrested, and police found drug paraphernalia in plain view nearby.

Upon receiving a search warrant, officers found 40 grams of cocaine, a small amount of methamphetamine, a knife, a firearm and ammunition, a baton, bear spray, cash, and trafficking paraphernalia inside the home.

Tyler Waldner, 32, is charged with:

  • One count of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • One count of possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition while prohibited
  • One count possession of a firearm knowingly without a license
  • One count possession of a firearm with readily-accessible ammunition without a license
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Waldner was also arrested on his warrant for breach of a conditional sentence order.
