A man alleged to have been driving a stolen vehicle when he smashed into two police vehicles is now facing over half a dozen charges.

On June 10, at around 9:40 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report that a vehicle, which was previously reported as stolen out of Prince Albert, was located at a business in Redwing. Officers responded and located the stolen vehicle before activating their vehicle’s emergency equipment and surrounding the stolen vehicle with police vehicles.

The stolen vehicle drove backwards, striking one of the police vehicles and then drove forward, striking a second. The driver fled the stolen vehicle, and a short foot chase ensued before they were arrested.

The officers in the police vehicles were not physically injured, and the police vehicles were damaged.

Three additional men inside the stolen vehicle were arrested at the scene. One of the men, identified as 24-year-old Orrin Beatty, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Prince Albert Police Service. The two other men were later released without charge.

In relation to the incident, 24-year-old Zachary Carriere from Prince Albert, is accused of assault on a police officer with a weapon, flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, resisting arrest, mischief over $5000, and failure to comply with a release order condition.
