The North Battleford Beavers continued their win streak on Monday night, blasting the Oil City Ducks 12-1 for their sixth straight and improving to 9-1 on the season.

The Beavers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring seven runs in a dominant first inning and adding three more in the second. They tacked on one run apiece in the third and fourth to round out the offensive barrage. Despite fielding a short-handed nine-man roster, once the the Beavers got going, they showed no signs of slowing down.

“We had a good start the first inning, we kind of got our bats going and kind of gave us a good lead. Then it just settled us in for the rest of the game there. So it was a really good turnout,” said Beavers player/coach Kyle Gregoire.

At the plate, Skyler Dimmick led the way, going 2 for 3 with a bases-clearing double that blew the game open. Connor Neave also chipped in with two hits and a couple of RBIs.

On the mound, Aaron Cadrin was steady and effective, throwing five innings and allowing just one run while striking out multiple batters. The Ducks only tally came in the fourth inning, but they struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the game.

“They had a few different times where they had bases loaded or two guys on a couple of times and they had chances to score. We were fortunate enough just to be at the right spot to make some catches and some good plays. The game could have been a lot closer but we just stood our ground,” said Gregoire.

With just three games left in the regular season, next up for the Beavers is a much-anticipated rematch against the Unity Cardinals, the only team to defeat North Battleford this season. That loss came in a 6-4 contest earlier in the year.

“We just have to play sound defense (against Unity). We got a couple of guys ready to go for pitching. So as long as we have those guys going, we’ll be good to go and I think we’ll have some good success,” said Gregoire.

The two teams will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Unity but due to their diamond being under construction, the game will be played in Wilkie.
