Taxi driver assaulted during weekend robbery

Police continue to an investigate an assault and theft of a taxi on June 14.

An RCMP media release states at approximately 9 p.m. a taxi picked up three individuals, and during the trip, the occupants threatened the driver and assaulted him, before fleeing in his taxi.

The driver did not report any serious physical injuries to police.

Officers began looking for the stolen taxi and located it a short time later. They activated their emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and it also manoeuvered around a tire deflation device.

The vehicle was later recovered abandoned in the Candle Lake area.

The suspects are described as two men and one woman. One male suspect was wearing a green sports team t-shirt and a black ballcap, while the other male suspect was wearing a black t-shirt. The female suspect had long black hair and was wearing a black hoodie.

La Ronge RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
