Two youths charged with arson after fire at Access Communications Centre
A fire that shut down the Access Communications Centre in North Battleford temporarily has led to arson charges against two teenagers.
In a news release issued Monday, RCMP said the city’s fire department extinguished the blaze, which was later deemed suspicious. A male youth was arrested at the scene, while a female youth was taken into custody the following day.
Both have been charged with one count of arson under the Criminal Code. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
City officials say the closure is necessary to assess the extent of the damage and to complete a comprehensive cleaning of the building. An official timeline for reopening has not yet been determined.
