Senator Myles Venne School celebrates 2025 graduating class

It will be a day to be remembered for the graduates of Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s (LLRIB) Senator Myles Venne School.

A ceremony was held Wednesday at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre, which featured several dignitaries including LLRIB Chief Tammy Cook-Searson and Federation of Sovereign Indian Nations Chief Bobby Cameron.

Graduates Emily Aldridge and Brandon Bird were selected as this year’s valedictorians. In her speech, Aldridge explained the day wasn’t just about walking across a stage. She said it’s about recognizing the effort, growth and supportive relationships that got them there.

“Each of you has a story that brought you to this moment, and your story is just getting started,” Aldridge remarked.

“Whether you’re heading to university, starting a job or still figuring it out, remember to stay on track and never lose the spark that got you here to this moment.”

Bird told his fellow graduates to make sure they bring balance to their lives and do what they need to do to become well-rounded people.

“Make sure you learn to take care of yourself and accept that responsibility, so that your family doesn’t have to worry about you,” he said.

“Finally, be kind and forgiving, especially to yourself because you are more worthy than you think. Believe that you can make it.”

The 2025 Senator Myles Venne School graduating class are Emily Aldridge, Brandon Bird, Lacie Charles, Rory Charles, Caleah Cook-Clarke, Shayna Morin, Storm Nelson, Aiden Ratt, Paradise Ratt, Cody Roberts, Zy Roberts Robin Ross-Clinton and Clayton Vanderkracht.

Many adult 12 graduates were also honoured at the ceremony including Donald Allen, Tyree Cook, Jared Durocher, Elise Eyahpaise, Jemima Halkett, Nadine Halkett, Patricia Halkett, Sandra Halkett, Kiyana Hennie, Mateo La Faver, Raiden Lutz, Danny Ratt-McLeod, Mercedes Ratt, Kristen Ross and Diana Tonn.
