Raiders newly acquired Heise drafted to San Jose
Earlier this week, the Prince Albert Raiders signed Max Heise, a player they had drafted 55th overall in the 2021 WHL Draft. At the time, Heise had planned to follow the college route through junior hockey and was playing with the Penticton Vees of the BCHL.
Now that the rules for players entering the NCAA have changed to allow players from the CHL, Heise will join the Raiders in his 19-year-old season as an NHL drafted player heading to the San Jose Sharks.
Going into the draft, NHL’s Central Scouting had Heise ranked as 209th among North American skaters available in the draft.
Heise is one of seven players drafted by the Sharks so far during the draft with one pick still remaining in round seven. He’ll join fellow WHL talent and Prince George Cougars goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen.
